Become a DJ
If you are interested in hosting your own radio show, come on in or email our Training Director (training AT weciradio.org). You can also call our office at 765.983.1246. We are always looking for new DJ's and constantly training volunteers.
In the training session you will learn to use all of the equipment (CD players, Turntables, Mini-Disc players, microphones, broadcasting board) and the broadcast standards of WECI and the FCC. After the training session you will receive a training manual (or you can read it online) which the written exam will be based on. To receive your license you must pass a written test and practical exam. The written test includes multiple choice and short answer questions, and the practical exam is a five to ten minute show simulation in the on-air studio. You must also complete two hour-long sit-ins with a DJ. Once you've passed both exams and receive a certificate of completion, you will be licensed to broadcast.
